The Annual Lunch for all Associate Members (volunteers) and representatives from Associate Organisations was held on Sunday 24 February.
Nearly 70 people sat down to a hot lunch provided by Board member Linda Müller and her team. President Dick Groves MBE gave an amusing address in which he thanked everyone for all they do throughout the year. Board member Marion McHardy had managed to obtain several valuable prizes from local businesses for a raffle which raised £334 for the Association's funds. Board members Peter Gandolfi and Bob Wynne had produced a couple of quiz papers (one cryptic and one general knowledge). By coincidence one table won both and collected small prizes.
It was a very relaxed and happy event with everyone collecting a pen, with the Talking Newspaper's details engraved on it, as they left for home later in the afternoon.
Associate organisations represented at the lunch included the Bromley office of the Kent Association for the Blind; the Macular Society; the Beckenham Club for the Blind; the VIPAS Group and the Bromley branch of the Torch Trust.
The next big event for the Association will be the AGM which will again take the form of a tea party and will be held on Saturday 5 October at 14:30 in the Bromley Methodist Church Hall.
